GEC Board members Elise Kalfayan, Monica Campagna, and Nick Dadizokian were happy to join Glendale Public Works staff at their Cruise Night display of three new heavy duty zero-emission vehicles just acquired through a California Climate Investment California Air Resources Board Advanced Technology Demonstration and Pilot Projects grant funded with Cap-and-Invest dollars. The grant is providing four vehicles total: two Volvo compact excavators and wheel loaders, a large EV pickup truck and an electric dump truck – all assigned to the Asphalt and Concrete sections of Glendale Public Works. The vehicles will also be available to Community Services and Parks, and Glendale Water and Power. Additional charging infrastructure for the vehicles is slated to be installed soon at the Public Works Corporation Yard with funding from a California Energy Commission grant.
These all-electric work vehicles will be used for projects around town, reducing emissions overall as Glendale carries out city business! GEC supported the city’s grant application to the California Air Resources Board and the California Energy Commission, and is happy to help inform our community about the new vehicles. We talked to a lot of people, and enjoyed being at Cruise Night!
