GEC CALL IN REQUEST: GEC requests city staff explore alternatives to asphalt that are reflective, water permeable and low carbon. Please call in or email council if possible.
8b Standardization of backhoe loaders.
This is continued from last week to discover if the City of Glendale can end this earlier than 10 years if clean energy loaders become available. Council Member Brotman brought this up for discussion. City staff in their report said “The proposed standardization of backhoe loaders and tractor loaders to John Deere for ten years does not entail a long-term commitment to either John Deere or Coastline. Equipment for the future purchase of this equipment. The proposed action is merely a standardization policy authorizing City staff to procure this specific John Deere equipment from Coastline, without competitive bidding.”
8c Retention of an Executive Recruiter to assist with City Manager selection.
There’s a consent item to replace asphalt in the parking lot at the Montrose Community Park. I may pull it to request staff explore alternatives to asphalt that are reflective, water permeable and low carbon. I know they will push back and explain why they can’t change anything, but I think it’s important to bring this stuff up at every possible opportunity
