GEC is excited to endorse councilmembers Dan Brotman and Elen Asatryan and commissioner Alek Bartrosouf for the Glendale City Council. All three of these candidates have demonstrated deep support for environmental causes in Glendale.

Dan Brotman has been a councilmember since 2020. He was one of the co-founders of the Glendale Environmental Coalition and led the successful effort for cleaner energy at the Grayson Power Plant. Since his election to council, he has continued to focus on clean energy, building electrification, electric equipment for homes and parks, less plastic, and increasing the tree canopy. He is also concerned about pedestrian, bicycle and car safety and making local public transportation, including the BeeLine, affordable and convenient to use.

Elen Asatryan has been a councilmember since 2022. She has also been a strong advocate for clean energy, increasing the tree canopy, and safe and convenient local public transportation especially the BeeLine. She is also concerned about bicycle and pedestrian safety. She wants to be sure that implementation of clean energy is accessible for all, including renters and small businesses, and that community education goes along with new ordinances such as the gas-powered leaf blower ban.

Alek Bartrosouf has been active in supporting environmental causes for about 20 years. He co-founded the Coalition for a Green Glendale and started the Monterey Community Gardens, in conjunction with Glendale. He has served on both the Sustainability Commission and the Transportation and Parking Commission (he is still on this one), which are volunteer commissions. He has served on the board of GEC and works as an urban planner. He supports clean energy, building electrification, plastics reduction, increasing the tree canopy as well as safe transportation options for pedestrians, bicyclists, cars and public transportation.
