Glendale City Council Watch
ECO-RELATED ITEMS ON THE AGENDA
Oct 13 @ 6 pm—Adoption of Mylar Balloon Ban; Clean Energy Projects Report & Motion to Proceed
Detail on Clean Energy Motion to Proceed: Council will hear a report on three clean energy projects that will help Glendale increase our local energy capacity, and consider a motion to move forward with the projects. The programs are: (1) Residential and Commercial Demand Response and Smart Thermostat Program and Online Marketplace offered by Franklin Energy Services, LLC; (2) Commercial Direct Install Energy Efficiency Program offered by Lime Energy Services Co.; and (3) Single-Family and Multi-Family Residential Virtual Power Plant offered by Sunrun, Inc.
CALL FOR SUPPORT! We hope the community will call in to the City Council meeting or email our councilmembers, to express support for moving forward with all three of these programs and additional clean energy projects, that will help us avoid the need for new gas at Grayson.
Oct 27 @ 6 pm—Verdugo Wash Greenway Request for Proposals UPDATE
Staff will brief Council on progress towards hiring a firm to do a visioning/feasibility study for an urban greenway. The response to Glendale’s request for proposals was very positive, with many well known and highly respected firms lining up to offer their services. Staff is committed to moving this project quickly so the City is in position to get grant funding when it’s available. More details as we get closer to October 27. We’ll again be calling on GEC members to express support for something that may well become a defining feature of the city!
