A dangerous and ill-conceived idea is being peddled by City Council candidates Balekian, Brooks and Murphy (at candidate forums, on campaign websites and on social media) that GWP should attempt to burn more gas in Glendale—adding pollution to our local community in order to attempt to sell extra power for profit.
The idea that Glendale would buy expensive permits and purchase expensive emission reduction credits (from cities or businesses that are not using the credits they have) so that we can pollute our OWN neighborhoods (especially the Rancho, Pelanconi, Grand Central and adjacent neighborhoods), to sell dirty energy into a market that we don’t currently have access to and that is not interested in buying it at the times we’d want to sell it, is not only immoral, it is likely a money-losing scenario.

Vote for GEC’s endorsed candidates—Dan Brotman, Alek (with a “k”) Bartrosouf and Elen Asatryan—in the upcoming Glendale City Council Election. Our endorsed candidates are not interested in rolling back clean energy progress and polluting our neighborhoods for imaginary profit. They are focused on a healthier, more sustainable future for Glendale residents.
