PHASE 1 UPDATE: Two Additional City-Owned Solar Projects Complete / Near Complete

In November 2023, Glendale City Council authorized Phase 1 of the Community Solar: City-Owned Program. Phase 1 projects will provide a total of approximately 4.9 megawatts of clean, locally-generated solar power to the Glendale community. The Perkins Building 184 kW Rooftop Solar Project was the first initiative to come on line, March 22, 2025. GWP recently connected their second array on March 2 at Central Library. Additionally, the 1.34 MW Sports Complex carport solar array installation is in full swing, with steel delivered this week and columns expected to be erected within the next couple of weeks. According to GWP, the complex will remain 100% operational throughout construction, with overflow parking, shuttle services, and security guards provided to keep traffic flowing calmly and the community safe.

Central Library Rooftop Solar Array
