GEC Endorses Climate Leaders

Join us in voting for Climate Leaders in the next election!

The Glendale Environmental Coalition board has officially endorsed three candidates in our districts:

Nick Schultz (D), for CA Assembly District 44. Nick answered questions we posed to candidates during the primary season; his responses are still posted on our website here. As a Burbank councilmember and now Mayor, Nick has advanced sustainability policies, and he understands municipal utility challenges involved in the transition to clean energy. He’s pledged to take aggressive action to address the climate crisis and pursue environmental policies that are effective and equitable for all Californians.

Sasha Renée Pérez (D) for CA State Senate District 25. Sasha also answered our candidate survey during the primary season; her responses are posted here. A former Mayor of Alhambra and a member of that City Council since 2020, she initiated Alhambra’s first, actionable Sustainability Plan in 2022, securing $670,000 in congressional funds. She was named Outstanding Elected Official by Active San Gabriel Valley for her efforts to increase pedestrian safety and walkability in Alhambra, and for encouraging alternate modes of transportation. She has signed the No Fossil Fuel pledge. As a State Senator, she will prioritize increasing access to renewable energy in low-income communities.

Laura Friedman (D) for CA Congressional District 30. As a community group that has worked with her at the local and state level for many years, we have witnessed Laura’s exemplary leadership on climate and environmental issues. We anticipate her continued work on these critical issues at the federal level.
